Jonathan Greenbank

Artist, teacher, reader, author, my work was once described as 'playful yet sincere' which I love: as honest and personal as possible, but with a humour and Northernness that my upbringing inspired.

With influences such as Joseph Cornell, Morrissey, fortune tellers, Billy Fury, superheroes, Willy Russell, Sesame Street, Alan Bennett... narrative plays a key role in my work and I love telling stories.

For Hannah I am producing my first work since becoming a dad eight months ago. It involves creating intimate portraits of the cockle pickers who died ten years ago.

These drawings will then be released into Morecambe Bay to commemorate the anniversary of the lives lost.
