The first Penistone line music train was in September 1993, and came about as a means of making more people aware of their local railway. It introduces lots of people to using their local train, and in 1998 The Guardian described the Penistone Line as 'Britain's number 1 Fun Railway'.
Many other Community Rail Partnerships now also run their own take on music trains, however the Penistone Line is the original (and arguably the best!).
A Yorkshire Night on The Penistone Line with live music from The Train Gang will celebrate the Hannah 2014 directory. Depart Huddersfield Station at 19.18 Tuesday June 3, to Silkstone Common for live music on the train and in the pub. Only charge is train fare and collection for band.
