Alternative Sheffield is an active volunteer co-operative online since 2008. It's all about publicising local activism on political issues from animal rights to peace, anti-racism to cycling, the environment, feminism, sexuality and gender, food, health and housing, etc. Groups can submit items for the events listing, which is usually updated a month ahead, and can be listed in the categorised links page. Future plans include social media feeds, all to encourage activism.

Alt-Sheff features Hannah Festival during the launch, and helps distributing copies of the directory.
