Juliet Burns, Biorenewables Development Centre

In the words of our director, we are all about 'growing stuff to make useful stuff'. We use biology and chemistry research to make real-world, greener processes and products using plants and microbes. This can be helping to grow plants with more medicinal compounds, exploring what waste tomato leaves can be used for or developing water-proof cardboard.

Yorkshire is a fantastic hub for this, with many farm and food businesses, a huge knowledge base and lots of bright ideas.

We'll share the directory from our stand at the International Renewable Resources and Biorefineries Conference in York.
