We develop community art projects and events with artists, community groups, cultural organisations and residents. We support artists in developing participatory projects; increase creative participation, develop creative and digital skills; support health & wellbeing and community engagement. ‘Dingy Butterflies’ comes from JB Priestley’s 1930’s book ‘English Journey’. When visiting Gateshead he described a group of unemployed men as “the dingy butterflies of the backstreet”. We aim to re-claim the phrase and reuse it in a creative, positive and humorous way.
